Worlds of Ursula K Le Guin

Worlds of Ursula K Le Guin

This past week I was flipping through one of the local cultural rags and found an article about the 42nd annual Portland International Film Festival. The fest will be screening a documentary about the late, award winning science fiction author Ursula K. Le Guin. It's called Worlds of Ursula K. Le Guin and will be showing at the festival on March 17th and 18th.

(The Lathe of Heaven is the only novel of Le Guin's that takes place in Portland)

A couple of years ago I read her acclaimed 1971 novel The Lathe of Heaven and thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to exploring more of her work as well as this film. And while I don't plan on attending the festival I was happy to discover that PBS will be airing the film in October as part of their American Masters series.

For a closer look at the documentary here's an article from Portland's Willamette Week from September 2018.  More info and a list of upcoming screenings can be found at the film's website.
