I bought a good 2lbs of local blueberries (quite a steal at $3!) a little while ago, with the intent of making a pie. So, I finally got around to doing just that.
I googled basic recipe for the pie dough and filling. Nothing fancy. Earth Balance butter for the crust, which turned out quite nice. If you use the baking butter sticks from Earth Balance, you may want to add a a pinch if salt to the dough. I replaced most of the sugar with agave nectar for the filling. Added a pinch of black pepper, lemon zest and vanilla extract as well. I made it last night and it was gone by this afternoon, success!
Hmm, that sounds like a pretty good fragrance to me. Pie crust, blueberries, lemon zest and vanilla extract. Would you take or leave the black pepper?
